The Skinny

Everyone wants to know, but no one really likes to talk about it. Money. Personally, I become frustrated when a service provider’s website shares no information about rates, fees, terms, etc. to help me make decisions. So in an effort to make it as easy as possible as you narrow your search for an interior designer, please review the following:

  • Rates
    $105/hour and time is tracked and invoiced in ¼ hour increments. Associate or Design Assistant time spent on the project will be billed at the rate of $75/hour.
  • Travel
    50% of the hourly rate. Whenever possible, I will combine often-traveled trips (tile and furniture stores, for instance) and share the travel costs with several clients.
  • Invoicing
    Invoices are sent monthly and include a detailed list of my work efforts shown in ¼ hour increments. Payment is required within ten business days. A 3% PayPal fee will be assessed if paying with a credit card through the invoicing software.
  • Retainer
    A small retainer (typically $250 – $800, depending on size of project) is requested to secure your project on the work calendar and will be credited on the final invoice.
  • Expenses
    Any expenses related to your project purchased by my office are assessed a 20% administrative fee.
  • For smaller projects, please refer to my package pricing. It will give you a good idea of the total costs involved for a variety of projects.
  • Designer/Trade Discounting
    Where available, Elizabeth Anderson will be split available designer/trade discount 50/50.  For instance, if a vendor offers EAID a 40% discount off of retail for a furnishing, fabric, lighting, etc., the Client will be offered a 20% discount.   Discounts are not available at all retailers, vendors, or online resources.
  • Appointments
    Evening and weekend appointments are often available with advance notice and carry a 10% up charge in the hourly rate.  Meeting cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will be charged a flat rate ($105).  Should Elizabeth Anderson or other staff need to cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours notice, the Client will be credited one hour at the staff’s associated bill rate on Client’s next invoice.

Packages

Work with What You’ve Got! - $550

Sometimes it takes a fresh pair of eyes to see the potential of your existing space and furnishings. Services include a half-day (4 hours) for both consultation and new placement of your existing furnishings, art, and accessories in a fresh and modern way. A reduced hourly rate of $75/hour is extended for any work requested in additional spaces within your home. Not included within this price is the cost of labor to move larger pieces. This labor can be arranged and coordinated for you.

Assisted Living Apartment Move-In - $950

From personal experience, I know there are few things more distressing than moving a parent from their longtime home to a small, clinical, and impersonal assisted living apartment. I can reduce stress for the family and resident by ensuring familiar items are put in place and a warm, comforting, and safe environment is created for a “softer landing”. Price to include eight (8) hours of initial consultation with family and attendance at move-in to coordinate placement and organization of incoming belongings.

A more comprehensive moving effort (coordinating the downsizing, donation/recycle of items, packing, and final clean at current home) with a more defined time estimate can be provided upon request.

New Home / Real Estate Trolling - $250/home toured

I will join you and your real estate agent as you tour and view possible new homes. I can help you visualize the possibility of the home. Often, a home on the market is outdated or just plain dreary and I can help you see beyond that to the real value and potential of the home (or not!). I won’t be able to speak or advise on the structural/mechanical/electrical integrity of the home though have many construction and sub-trade partners I could recommend.

Interior Color Consultations - $500

Services include a consultation at the home and returning with color photo renderings of your rooms (up to 4) showing paint color concepts digitally shown on your own walls. While I am a still a stickler for sample, sample, sample when it comes to paint, you can significantly reduce the trial-and-error anxiety by viewing the proposed colors on your walls with your existing furnishings and lighting digitally first.
